Programme Risk and Assurance Lead Location: Manchester (Hybrid/Flexible Working) Salary: Up to £63,000 + Excellent Pension & Benefits Sector: Public Sector Are you an experienced Programme Risk and Assurance professional looking for an opportunity to lead assurance activities across high-profile projects? Our public sector client in Manchester is seeking a Programme Risk and Assurance Lead to provide independent assurance and governance across a portfolio of complex programmes, ensuring strategic objectives are met.

The Role:

As the Programme Risk and Assurance Lead, you will:

  • Lead and develop assurance strategies, ensuring robust governance and compliance across major projects.
  • Provide independent assurance to senior stakeholders, including executive leadership teams and governance boards.
  • Oversee assurance activities such as health checks, gateway reviews, and risk assessments to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain the Integrated Assurance Strategy in line with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior responsible officers, project sponsors, and programme managers to improve risk management and assurance processes.
  • Lead a team and manage external consultants to deliver effective assurance services.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Significant experience in programme assurance, risk management, and project governance within large-scale organisations.
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle methodologies, compliance frameworks, and best practices.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive improvements in assurance processes.
  • Experience managing people, including mentoring and developing teams.
  • A formal project/programme management qualification such as APM PMQ, MSP Foundation, or PRINCE2 (desirable).
