A global brand in Healthcare and Pharmaceutical products is looking to recruit a highly skilled and experienced Material Planner to join their growing Supply Chain team at their site in West Yorkshire, near Halifax. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful operation of the Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) process within the APO/SAP system, and you’ll be responsible for creating and maintaining valid material requirement plans for externally procured materials, optimising cost and inventory performance while supporting service to customers. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the Material Planning workstream and proactively support the implementation of Material Planning / Inventory management improvement strategies.

What you'll do:

As a Material Planner, you will play a crucial role in managing the MRP process within the APO/SAP system. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating and maintaining valid material requirement plans for externally procured materials, optimising cost and inventory performance. You will take on a leadership role, heading up the Material Planning workstream, coordinating departmental training processes, and driving continuous improvement strategies. Your keen eye for detail will ensure accuracy of Purchase Requisitions in SAP, while your proactive approach will enable you to identify and manage risks effectively.

  • Lead the Material Planning workstream and implement its key processes.
  • Coordinate departmental training process and update records.
  • Support implementation of continuous improvement strategies in both Material Planning and Inventory Management.
  • Ensure accuracy of Purchase Requisitions in SAP.
  • Engage with Supply Planner/Procurement to ensure strategic suppliers are provided a rolling accurate 12-month forecast of requirements.
  • Review daily alerts to ensure timely conversion to PO ensuring on-time deliveries in line with Production plan.
  • Identify and manage risks in materials supply with Procurement in regular meetings.
  • Manage material requisitions to deliver to stock levels for each material in accordance with Inventory policy.
  • Maintain critical and effective Material Planning master data fields in SAP/APO.
  • Ensure all materials are ordered inside the system.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Material Planner role will bring a wealth of experience and a strong educational background in Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management, or Business. With at least 5 years' experience in a similar role within the Pharma or other highly regulated environments, you will have developed an in-depth understanding of the manufacturing process and material flow processes. Your critical thinking skills will be key to analysing situations and formulating solutions, while your exceptional organisational and time management skills will ensure smooth operations. Your agility and excellent communication skills will enable you to effectively manage changes and maintain clear lines of communication.

  • University degree in Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management, Business or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Material Planner within Pharma or other regulated industry.
  • Proficiency with SAP, MRP and APO/PPDS.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing process.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of shipping, receiving and warehouse material flow processes.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Agility to proactively react to changes borne out of customer requirements/demands and machine breakdowns.
  • Excellent communication skills.
