Materials Planning Manager

A leading manufacturing business based in Greater Manchester are looking for a Materials Planning Manager to join their team. As Materials Planning Manager you will be responsible for managing inbound supply of materials to support the production plan, overseeing a team of planners you will monitor supplier performance against SLAs and ensure inventory is kept within agreed parameters.

About the role:

• Directs Materials Planners team to ensure objectives, are achieved, such as material availability, inventory levels, etc.
• Determines materials requirements needed to meet production schedules, inventory levels, and shipment demands to achieve on-time performance and inventory management requirements.
• Coordinates with other departments to ensure smooth flow of materials, and monitors business trends and economic cycles in order to anticipate change in order flow from customers and material availability from suppliers.
• Analyses and evaluates inventory and delivery problems and recommends and/or implements solutions to optimise inventory levels.

About the person:

• Previous experience working in a supply chain/ planning/ materials manager role within a manufacturing organisation, ideally automotive, aerospace, engineering, rail or other heavy manufacturing sort of industry.
• Excellent leadership skills and the ability to drive change in a positive manner.
• SAP experience would be preferred.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
