A leading manufacturer in Greater Manchester have a brand new role of production director. The business are a printer and supply a wide range of distributors and end users with pens, cups bags and t-shirts.
In a brand new role for the business, as production director you will be responsible for operations and supply chain on site in Greater Manchester. The business was recently acquired by a large group but needs an operations professional to give it an injection of ideas. The long term plan is to double the turnover of the business. Currently it operates a Monday to Friday double shift operation so there is potential to run 24/7 but the main focus will be identifying opportunities to improve efficiency's within the site. The site has been operating with a profit for a number of years however have achieved this without evolving manufacturing practice and could achieve a heck of a lot more with the right person driving it!
So, we are looking for candidates who can introduce some performance measures and bring in ideas on how to improve the manufacturing operation. Planning and prioritising of orders from sales, value stream and process mapping, SMED activities and output are all things that need looking at. Quality and customer service is a key component of the business.
To be considered for the role of production director you must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Site leadership in a manufacturing environment preferably related to the print industry
- Change management skills relating to process
- Engaging leadership style with strong customer service skills
- Strong continuous improvement knowledge an techniques
