Logistics Specialist

A leading manufacturing business in the Chester area are looking for a Logistics Specialist to join their team for an initial 6 month period with the potential for further extension or to go permanent. As Logistics Specialist you will manage and optimise the import and export operations. This is a key role within our supply chain team, ensuring smooth international movement of goods, compliance with trade regulations, and timely delivery to customers and partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate international shipments, including customs documentation and freight forwarding.
• Ensure compliance with import/export laws, tariffs, and trade agreements.
• Liaise with suppliers, carriers, and customs brokers to resolve issues and delays.
• Monitor and track shipments, maintaining accurate records and reports.
• Support inventory planning and warehouse coordination for inbound and outbound logistics.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in global logistics.
• Stay up to date with changes in international trade regulations and logistics trends.

Requirements

• Proven experience in logistics, supply chain, or import/export operations.
• Strong knowledge of international shipping, Incoterms, and customs procedures.
• Experience moving dangerous goods would be an advantage.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Available for an imminent start.
