Logistics Controller

A global manufacturing business based in Trafford Park are looking for a Logistics Controller to join their team. As Logistics Controller you will be responsible for managing and optimising the supply chain process, from product orders to delivery. This role involves coordinating shipments, managing inventory, liaising with suppliers and customers, and ensuring efficient logistics operations.

About the role:

  • Schedule and coordinate domestic and international shipments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.
  • Prepare and manage shipping documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and packing lists.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock.
  • Create weekly invoices for completed shipments
  • Monitor supplier invoices and recharge out as necessary, liaising with management with any issues.
  • Communicate with suppliers to arrange transportation and negotiate shipping rates.
  • Address customer inquiries and provide updates on shipment status.
  • Resolve any issues related to transportation, delivery, or product quality.
  • Analyse logistics processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement strategies to optimise supply chain efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and inspections.
  • Promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

About the person:

  • Previous experience working in a logistics focussed role.
  • Knowledge of paperwork required for imports/exports.
  • Experience working with hazardous chemicals would be preferred.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
  • SAP experience would be preferred.
