Team Supervisor

Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 p/a

Location: Bolton

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Supervisor to join a well-established household chemicals manufacturing organisation based in Bolton. This role offers you the chance to play a pivotal part in ensuring the smooth running of the mixing department, directly supporting the Technical Manager and in the day-to-day management and leadership of a small team of operatives. With a competitive salary of £35,000 - £38,000 per annum, plus overtime and a supportive team culture, this position is perfect for someone who thrives on responsibility and enjoys nurturing others’ growth. You will be instrumental in maintaining high-quality production standards, promoting workplace safety, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. If you are looking for a role where your organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to motivate others will be truly valued, this could be the next step in your career.

What you'll do:

As Team Supervisor you will play an essential role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the mixing department, ensuring that production runs smoothly from start to finish by coordinating team members’ activities, monitoring output against targets, and upholding rigorous quality standards. You will act as a key point of contact between your team and other departments such as warehousing and engineering, facilitating effective communication to keep everything running seamlessly. By championing best practices in health and safety as well as environmental standards, you will help create a safe and supportive workplace for everyone. Your commitment to continuous improvement will see you identifying opportunities for process enhancements while guiding new starters through comprehensive inductions. Success in this role means not only meeting production goals but also fostering a positive team spirit where everyone feels valued.

What you bring:

To excel as Team Supervisor, your background should include hands-on experience managing or supervising small teams within a manufacturing context where teamwork is central. Your interpersonal skills will enable you to build rapport quickly with both new starters and experienced operatives alike. You’ll bring practical knowledge of GMP requirements along with an appreciation for how robust health and safety measures contribute to overall well-being at work. Familiarity with digital systems like SAP will help you stay organised when handling production data or preparing documentation. Above all else, your ability to communicate openly will set you apart as someone who genuinely cares about others’ success.

  • Proven experience supervising or leading teams within a manufacturing or production environment where collaboration is highly valued.
  • A strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles with an ability to promote these standards among colleagues in everyday operations.
  • Excellent organisational skills enabling you to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail across all aspects of production.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with team members at all levels to foster trust and understanding within your group.
  • Experience implementing or supporting health and safety protocols in an industrial setting; knowledge of risk assessment principles is particularly beneficial.
  • Competence using business systems such as SAP or similar software for managing production records and documentation efficiently.
  • A considerate approach when inducting new employees or sharing information about workplace hazards so that everyone feels supported from day one.
  • Ability to respond calmly under pressure when unexpected issues ariseby working together with engineers or management for quick solutions.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping throughout shifts so that everyone benefits from a pleasant working environment.
  • A flexible attitude towards working hours when required by business needs, demonstrating dependability for your team.
