A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join an established and successful manufacturing business in Blackburn, as they continue to grow and expand the business.

As a result of impressive performance and a rapidly growing order book, an established and successful manufacturing business based in Blackburn are recruiting for their new Health & Safety Manager. The role is offering a starting salary of between £50,000 and £60,000 p/a, with additional benefits and training & development opportunities on offer.

Reporting directly to the Site Director, you'll take full responsibility and accountability for managing, advising and facilitating the Health and Safety function. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist managers, supervisors and individuals to meet various responsibilities for Health and Safety under relevant legislation.

  • Keep up to date with changes in current legislation and to bring to the attention of the business any relevant new legislation and proposed changes to be implemented.

  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of a suitable and sufficient OHSMS and EMS.

  • Prepare Health and Safety strategies, action plans and oversee the development of internal policies, ensuring they are fully implemented across the site

  • Development and maintenance of suitable processes for the investigation of accidents and near miss situations, implementing corrective actions with department heads.

  • Participating in the investigation of accidents and near-misses and recommending remedial action to management where appropriate.

  • To work alongside the training co-ordinator to carry out or arrange for all required internal and external training, ensuring health & safety monitoring and auditing systems are correctly implemented and carried out in a professional manner.

  • Work with relevant Managers to ensure safety inspections are carried out in the workplace in the presence of safety representatives and other members of management or other persons as required.

  • Ensuring accident reporting is maintained and conducted in line with Company policy, Group requirements and HSE

The role requires full understanding of current & pending Health, Safety and Environmental legislation as well as the ability to translate this knowledge into creating a safe and healthy operationally compliant environment. The company are keen to hear from experienced Health & Safety Managers with a background in manufacturing and GMP, who have NEBOSH / IOSH qualifications, or similar. As the company look to expand their facility and introduce new high-value equipment, the ideal candidate will also have project planning experience and a continuous improvement mindset.
