A manufacturer of specialised components and systems is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join their team in Poynton, to develop and grow the company's continuous improvement culture. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing tools, techniques, and processes to address issues in manufacturing relating to ergonomics, safety, quality, and cost. With a salary range of £40,000 - £45,000, this role provides an excellent opportunity for career growth and development.

What you'll do:

As a Continuous Improvement Engineer, your role will be pivotal in driving improvements across the organisation. You will take the initiative in continuous improvement activities, identifying non-value activities and facilitating Kaizen workshops. Your ability to conduct root cause analysis will be crucial in addressing manufacturing issues related to ergonomics, safety, quality, and cost. You will also be responsible for planning and executing continuous improvement events using Lean Six Sigma tools. Your collaborative approach will enable you to work effectively with various departments to continuously improve processes.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, waste removal, and cost reduction.
  • Support & facilitate Kaizen workshops/lean events.
  • Conduct root cause analysis.
  • Prepare and present PowerPoint slides to communicate improvement activities.
  • Perform improvement suggestion tracker updates ensuring timely closure against target date.
  • Plan, facilitate, and execute continuous improvement events using Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Work to continuously improve processes both on the shop floor as well as transactional areas by collaborating with various departments.
  • Assess capability of new equipment including onsite and offset trials.

What you bring:

The ideal Continuous Improvement Engineer will bring a wealth of knowledge in lean principles, tools and techniques and a strong background in an engineering environment. Ideally you’ll have previously operated in a dedicated CI role, however the hiring manager is also keen to hear from applicants who have held a similar role in Manufacturing or Quality and who have a good understanding of lean and improvement methodologies.

Your previous experience have equipped you with the skills necessary to run CI events/workshops effectively. Your understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design will be invaluable in this role. A strong commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations is essential. Your project management skills will enable you to scope projects accurately, plan effectively and conduct project reviews. Your proficiency in Microsoft Office tools will aid you in your day-to-day tasks.

  • Understanding of lean principles, tools and techniques.
  • Previous experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or similar role.
  • Experience of running CI events/workshops.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design.
  • Awareness and commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Project management skills (scoping, planning, project reviews) and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in high paced and changing environments.
