A brilliant opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to advance their career with a reputable and well-known brand that holds a global presence, an ever-growing order book and ambitious plans for further expansion.

As a result of massive growth and site expansion, a global supplier of PPE and safety equipment is looking to recruit a Lead Maintenance Engineer to join their UK engineering team in South Manchester, based at their facility near Salford Quays. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to move into a role that offers a clear progression path in to a Leadership or Management position – the role is offering between £45,000 and £50,000 p/a depending on experience, offering additional benefits and a 8am – 4pm shift pattern.

Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Manager, you’ll be responsible for a wide range of equipment across the site, however your main focus will be ensuring proactive and preventative maintenance of the company’s robotics and PLC-operated machinery. Working closely with another lead engineer and a team of shift workers, you will be asked to drive forward TPM and Continuous Improvement initiatives, while also contributing to continuing the high levels of health and safety awareness across the business.

To be considered for this position, your application should demonstrate a strong background in site and machinery maintenance, ideally working with fast-moving or packaging equipment in an industry such as FMCG, Food or Pharma. Although the role will involve working with electrical and automated equipment, the manager is happy to consider applications from experienced maintenance engineers who are multi-skilled or mechanically biased, as there will the opportunity for training and development to help you succeed in this role.

You’ll also need to have an appreciation for HSE considerations and have strong IT skills, as the role will involve using Microsoft Office and other online and AI-driven applications. Lastly, as the planned path for the successful person will include training and mentoring of others, it would be useful to be able to show previous management / leadership experience of individuals or a small team.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to advance their career with a reputable and well-known brand that holds a global presence, an ever-growing order book and ambitious plans for further expansion.
