Hybrid working pattern – 3 days per week in the Central London office.
This role focuses on supporting technology and innovation projects and leading data protection efforts. You will play a pivotal role in advancing the business’ utilisation of new tools and approaches.
While part of the global legal team, you will work closely with the teams you support, providing guidance that extends beyond purely legal matters, and addressing ethical and commercial considerations also.
You will be responsible for reviewing new technologies, balancing data protection and security concerns with potential benefits; negotiating licensing and development agreements with technology providers.
This person will act as the point of escalation for Data Subject Access Requests and matters of disclosure in litigation, as well as providing legal support for the growing data insights business, offering valuable business information on market trends.
There will be a responsibility to keep legal colleagues informed of the latest global developments in data protection and related technology law, as well as supporting the General Counsel in public affairs initiatives. The client believes that the position requires a minimum of 3-4 years of post-qualification experience as a solicitor or barrister (or foreign equivalent), but applications from all levels will be considered on merit. You will need experience in either Private Practice or In-house, with a specific focus on technology-related law, and proficiency in GDPR. You will possess a genuine passion for technology and an understanding of its potential and limitations.
