This is an expansion hire giving the postholder the opportunity to shape the legal team’s approach to all things tech and privacy. Hybrid working pattern – 3 days per week in the Central London office.
This role focuses on supporting technology and innovation projects and leading data protection efforts. You will play a pivotal role in advancing the business’ utilisation of new tools and approaches.
While part of the global legal team, you will work closely with the teams you support, providing guidance that extends beyond purely legal matters, and addressing ethical and commercial considerations also.
You will be responsible for reviewing new technologies, balancing data protection and security concerns with potential benefits; negotiating licensing and development agreements with technology providers.
The postholder will play a pivotal role in the continuous development of the data privacy policy, addressing data retention, processing grounds and data transfer. Work will be of an international nature and you will develop or enhance your knowledge of data protection legislation across the global (from the US to China, from Japan to Australia).
This person will act as the point of escalation for Data Subject Access Requests and matters of disclosure in litigation, as well as providing legal support for the growing data insights business, offering valuable business information on market trends.
