I am looking for a temporary Data Protection Paralegal to join a National Firm’s Birmingham office. This assignment is offered on a 3- 6 month assignment, with the possibility of further extension, or a permanent role for right candidate.
As the legal team is working towards compliance with the GDPR, the Data Protection Paralegal will provide the Group with an advisory service on data privacy/data protection matters ensuring a robust approach to GDPR across all areas of the business. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across all areas of the business, ensuring that all GDPR policies and processes are understood and followed.
The Data Protection Paralegal’s main duties will include, but are not limited to;
- Using knowledge of policies and processes to carry out Data Protection Impact Assessments, reviewing business responses to determine if processes are lawful or justified.
- Working to mitigate Data Breaches.
- Working alongside other colleagues to draft short-term resolutions as well as to formalise plans and responses.
Ideally, the Data Protection Paralegal will have considerable knowledge of the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act, RIPA and other related legislation. Records management experience, as well as prior knowledge of working within a legal compliance environment would be advantageous.
