What you'll do:
- Manage your own caseload of clinical negligence claims on behalf of defendant clients, ensuring all matters are handled efficiently and in accordance with client requirements and service level agreements.
- Support on high-value and complex claims, collaborating closely with colleagues to deliver strategic solutions tailored to client needs.
- Delegate tasks effectively to junior fee earners when appropriate, providing guidance and supervision to foster their development within the team.
- Deliver exceptional client service through proactive communication, commercial awareness, and responsive support both remotely and on-site as required.
- Undertake thorough legal research using online and library facilities, advising clients on the implications of new statutes, regulations, directives, and case law relevant to healthcare litigation.
- Participate in business development activities by planning and delivering engaging seminars and training programmes for clients both in person and online.
- Provide secondment support to key clients as needed, adapting quickly to different environments while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, documentation, and correspondence related to ongoing cases, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail throughout.
- Record time promptly and accurately to meet financial goals and targets set by the department.
- Engage with healthcare inquest or advisory work as opportunities arise, broadening your experience within the health sector.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated experience (1+PQE) of handling clinical negligence claims as either a defendant or claimant solicitor or through catastrophic personal injury work.
- Proficiency with IT systems including Microsoft Office; experience with case management software is highly desirable.
- Ability to conduct comprehensive legal research using both online platforms and traditional library resources.
- Exceptional attention to detail coupled with the ability to explain complex technical processes clearly to clients.
- Experience or interest in healthcare inquest or advisory work would be advantageous but not essential.
- Enthusiastic approach towards teamwork with well-developed inter-personal skills that foster collaboration within the department.
- Strong organisational capabilities enabling effective time management across multiple cases simultaneously.
- Commitment to accurate time recording practices aligned with departmental financial objectives; proven track record meeting daily chargeable hour targets.
- Willingness to take responsibility for delegated tasks while supporting junior colleagues’ development through supervision.
- Motivation to participate in business development activities such as seminars or training sessions aimed at enhancing client relationships.
