One of Europe's largest asset managers is looking for an experienced ISDA negotiator to join their busy London team on a permanent basis.
Our client is one of Europe’s largest asset managers and a major global investor, with assets under management of nearly £100bn. The company offer strategies across the full spectrum of asset classes, including equities, bonds, property, alternatives and cash, as well as multi-asset strategies tailored to the needs of institutional and retail investors.
They manage fixed income, equity, multi-asset, liability-driven investment, property and alternative solutions on behalf of their clients. Located across the globe, the company's clients include institutional pension funds, financial institutions, local authorities and sovereign wealth funds.
This role sits within the legal team and role duties include but are not limited to:
Negotiating ISDA master agreements, credit support annexes, execution agreements (CDEA), client clearing addendums and GMRAs for a variety of different entity types (including pension funds, insurance companies, SWFs, UCITS, SICAV), many of which are already in place but need to be maintained
Advising the business on matters relating to ISDAs, GMRAs, CDEAs and CCAs, and in general advising on derivatives (including cleared and uncleared) and repurchase transactions
Supervising the outsourcing of master documentation fund additions to a third party
Advising and/or seeking advice on derivatives regulations, including but not limited to ISDA Stay protocols, EMIR, the Benchmark Regulation and other regulatory matters to the extent it impacts trading documentation
Advising on the impact of Brexit on trading arrangements with counterparties
Advising on broker terms of business and electronic platform terms
Assisting other members of the legal team with clauses in investment management agreements that relate to trading derivatives
Advising all departments (e.g. fund managers, operations, finance and sales) on the legal risks arising in the business, predominantly relating to derivatives, and recommending appropriate courses of action and strategies to manage those risks
Monitoring legal developments and other events which are likely to have legal implications for the business and assisting in developing new strategies
Working with the team to encourage proper filing and audit of trading documentation, and arranging and taking responsibility for executing and completing the candidate’s own negotiated portfolio of agreements
Dealing with any ancillary requests in relation to derivatives and trading in general.
The ideal candidate will be an established PQE solicitor with a good working knowledge of derivatives who has worked in the financial services industry, or an ISDA negotiator with equivalent experience. They should have strong knowledge of derivatives documentation and be able to provide advice, with support from more senior solicitors as required, on legal and regulatory issues arising in respect of such documentation.
