What you'll do:
As an IP Transactions and Commercialisation Associate, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client's business. Your primary responsibility will be to draft, review, and advise on a wide range of complex IP agreements, biopharma partnering arrangements, and other commercial contracts in the life science and healthcare sectors. You will have the opportunity to work at the forefront of technology commercialization, making a significant impact on our client's growth as well as patient outcomes. Your role will also involve working closely with our award-winning corporate tech and life sciences team on IP aspects of venture capital fundraisings. This position offers ample opportunities for collaboration with other offices internationally.
- Draft, review and advise on a wide range of complex IP agreements, biopharma partnering arrangements and other commercial contracts in the life science and healthcare sectors.
- Work at the cutting edge of technology commercialization, having a real and direct impact on client's growth and patient outcomes.
- Communicate with clients independently and under supervision.
- Work alongside award-winning corporate tech and life sciences team on IP aspects of venture capital fundraisings.
- Craft settlement terms for high-profile patent disputes between medical device and biopharma companies.
- Participate in larger UK life sciences networks and professional associations.
- Manage all work allocated by partners and other team members.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this IP Transactions and Commercialisation Associate role will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in handling complex IP agreements within the life science sector. You should be a qualified solicitor with 2-6 years of post-qualification experience and have a strong IP background with transactional/commercial deal experience. Your excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage your own workload will be key to your success in this role. Furthermore, your excellent communication and negotiation skills will enable you to effectively liaise with clients and team members.
- Excellent academics – STEM undergraduate degree in a technical area is helpful but not required.
- A qualified solicitor with 2-6 PQE and relevant legal experience gained from a top tier UK or international practice.
- Prior experience in a well-regarded life sciences team.
- Strong IP background with transactional / commercial deal experience.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and negotiation skills.
- Ability to effectively manage own workload and prioritise.
- Self-motivation, coupled with the ability to work closely with other team members.
