Data Protection Lawyer - In House
We are recruiting on behalf of our client in Birmingham, for an experienced Data Protection Lawyer – In House to join their legal team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in-house on complex and high-profile regulatory investigations while contributing to the development of data management policies and strategies.
The Role:
As part of this Data Protection Lawyer - In House role in Birmingham, you will play a key part in ensuring compliance with all applicable legal frameworks related to data protection, including UK GDPR, DPA, FOIA, and other relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
The Data Protection Lawyer - In House will:
· Provide expert advice on data management and policy considerations within the context of regulatory investigations.
· Support the development and implementation of data management policies and strategies to ensure compliance with data protection laws.
· Lead workstreams to update policies and procedures on data management topics.
· Draft practical guidance for case teams on emerging legislative changes and best practices.
· Collaborate with internal stakeholders, IT experts, government departments and external counsel as required.
· Deliver training sessions and presentations on data protection issues to internal teams.
About You:
· Qualification as a solicitor or barrister with significant experience (6+ years PQE) in data protection law.
· Expertise in advising on laws and regulations such as UK GDPR, DPA, FOIA, and related legislation.
· Excellent analytical skills and sound legal judgement.
· Previous experience working for or acting on behalf of a regulator, prosecuting authority, or disciplinary body (desirable).
· Strong research skills and proficiency in IT systems.
