Head of Insurance & Claims

Our client is seeking a Head of Insurance & Claims to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to take charge of the group's insurance and claims function, including day-to-day management responsibility for the group claims and customs team. You will be working as part of a wider Legal team, reporting into the General Counsel and Group Legal Manager.

What you'll do:

As Head of Insurance & Claims, you will play a pivotal role in managing the group's insurance and claims function. Your responsibilities will span from renewing and maintaining insurance to protect the group’s assets, responding to insurance related queries, reviewing / approving insurance clauses in contracts, ensuring all claims are dealt with within timescales, maximising recoveries from material loss, to providing best practice guidance to reduce risk. Your ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and deliver results will be key to your success in this role.

• Manage the group claims and customs team on a day-to-day basis
• Ensure that the group’s insurance is renewed annually and maintained appropriately throughout the year
• Provide advice and support in relation to insurance related queries across the group
• Review, negotiate, and approve insurance clauses in the group’s contracts and leases
• Identify accident trends and introduce risk mitigation measures
• Administer claims and recovery actions
• Monitor the effectiveness of the service provided by brokers and insurers
• Support the group with best practice guidance to reduce the risk of claims and improve the prospect of successful recoveries

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Head of Insurance & Claims position brings strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to deliver results in a team environment. You have a well-organised approach to work, strong IT skills, particularly with data recording and presentation software like Excel and PowerPoint. Your desire to learn about insurance and claims management coupled with your organisational skills will enable you to thrive in this fast-paced environment. Experience in ports/shipping sector would be advantageous but not essential.
