What you'll do:

As Head of Legal, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the organisation. Your primary responsibility will be serving as the key legal advisor, providing guidance on all matters related to intellectual property rights. trademarks, plant patents and more.

You will design and implement robust legal frameworks that support our commercialisation models and expansion initiatives. Your expertise will be crucial in managing risks, claims and conflicts effectively. Furthermore, you will lead the Legal department personnel, fostering their skills development while ensuring budget compliance against strategic plans.

  • Serve as the primary Legal advisor to senior leadership teams and external directors
  • Design and implement the legal framework within the context of Intellectual Property creation and management
  • Ensure appropriate asset protection strategies for plant variety rights, trademarks, plant patents, etc.
  • Engage with a network of legal counsel on both domestic and international levels
  • Assess and manage risks, claims, conflicts including litigation to achieve effective outcomes
  • Oversee skills, training, performance management of the Legal department personnel
  • Implement the department’s annual budget and monitor performance throughout the year

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Head of Legal position brings a wealth of experience in Intellectual Property and contract law. You will be:

  • A UK qualified lawyer with 6 years PQE gained In House or Private Practice with a grounding in Intellectual Property and contract law
  • Experience with managing international IP litigation matters
  • Deep understanding of industry-specific intellectual property and commercial matters relating to produce, agriculture, horticulture supply chain
  • Proven track record of managing work outcomes of external law firms and other professionals
  • Exceptional analytical, interpersonal communication skills along with sound judgement and personal integrity
