Construction Lawyer - £110k

Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Construction Counsel to join a high-growth operator in renewable energy sector. This is a predominantly non-contentious/front-end remit. This position can be undertaken on a fully remote basis (with the exception of some very occasional international travel), although you must be based within the UK.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Construction Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in what is a small UK legal team. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include drafting a wide range of contractual agreements relating to EPC, O&M, NEC, FIDIC, as well as more general matters such as service/supply contracts and subcontractor agreements.

You will be advising on the development of renewable energy projects, including major equipment purchase deals, real estate matters, power purchase and interconnection contracts. The postholder will also play a key role in the negotiation of deals with customers for commercial development projects.

In addition to all of above, you will be required to assist in managing external counsel as well as updating stakeholders across the business on key legal & regulatory developments that affect their daily activities.

What you bring:

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years’ PQE and be qualified as a Solicitor in the UK (or admitted overseas with significant experience of working on UK construction matters). Construction/projects law will have been the dominant feature of your career to date – NEC, JCT, EPC, O&M etc. Going into what is a small in-house team, you will possess the experience to hit the ground running. Whilst lawyers coming straight from private practice will be considered (ideally with a secondment), the preference is to hire an individual who has already worked in-house. Someone who has worked in the renewable energy sector previously would be an ideal fit but there is the scope to also consider applications from those with a more general infrastructure/projects background.

Robert Walters Operations Limited is an employment business and employment agency and welcomes applications from all candidates
