What You'll Do:
As an Employment Solicitor based in Birmingham, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering expert advice across a broad spectrum of employment law issues.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing both contentious and non-contentious caseloads independently for high-profile clients.
- Advising on redundancy processes, disciplinary actions, grievances, whistleblowing incidents, discrimination claims, and change management initiatives such as restructuring projects.
- Defending Employment Tribunal claims from inception through resolution, ensuring meticulous case preparation and client representation.
- Collaborating with Partners, Senior Associates, and King’s Counsel on landmark equal pay and industrial relations cases (advocacy not required).
- Drafting insightful articles, delivering engaging training sessions, and participating in business development activities to strengthen client relationships.
- Mentoring junior fee-earners by sharing knowledge and supporting their professional growth.
- Contributing ideas for process improvements that enhance collaboration and efficiency within the team.
What You Bring:
We’re looking for an Employment Solicitor who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings:
- At least 5 years PQE in employment law with proven ability to manage diverse caseloads independently.
- Strong technical expertise in employment legislation coupled with exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrable experience advising clients on redundancy, disciplinary procedures, grievances, whistleblowing incidents, discrimination claims, and defending Employment Tribunal cases.
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex legal concepts clearly to clients and colleagues alike.
- Effective time management abilities to balance competing priorities while meeting strict deadlines.
Nice-to-have qualities include experience handling equal pay claims or industrial relations projects, mentoring junior colleagues, or contributing to business development initiatives like drafting articles or delivering training sessions.
