A leading regional Worcestershire law firm seeks to hire an Employment Lawyer to join their busy team, which provides first class legal support and advice to a wide range of clients including dentistry and medical practices, the food & drink industry, general commercial and not for profit organisations. The role will provide a genuine career opportunity for a lawyer looking to join a forward thinking leading regional law firm.
About the role:
The Employment team which consists of 5 lawyers with support staff, provides advice to both employers, and employees.
They regularly deal with:
- Employment contracts and staff handbook
- All HR documentation (including appraisals, interview checklists, applications forms etc)
- General HR advice including disciplinary and grievance procedures, holiday entitlements, working time etc
- Advice on dealing with employees on long term sick
- Advice on avoiding discrimination claims
- Redundancy and Restructure advice
- Practical advice on the implications of TUPE
- Training for staff and managers
- Discrimination claims
- Unfair dismissal
- Whistleblowing claims
- Unlawful deduction from wages
This position of Employment Lawyer will require you to assist the more senior members of the Employment team on complex matters, and assist the other members on an ad hoc basis on matters such as those listed above.
You will also be encouraged to build and manage your own case load. Supervision will be provided during the early stages of your employment, however you will be encouraged to make you own decisions and work autonomously, therefore you will be an independent and confident thinker, who can manage your time in a sharp and effective manner, who is strong at business development and client management.
As Employment Lawyer - you will support your application with strong academics.
You will be a UK (or overseas equivalent) qualified lawyer who has trained with a reputable law firm gaining valuable Employment experience. You will be able to offer a minimum of 2 years PQE, working within a similar Employment team working with both respondent and claimant clients.
You will be a team player - happy to work above and beyond. You will also be content to work unsupervised, using your initiative. Good communication skills are essential. A passion for business development, marketing of oneself, and general networking is paramount.
