Senior Legal Counsel – Commercial Contracts (12M FTC)

My client is a highly regarded UK law firm, recognised for its leading Commercial, IT & Outsourcing (CITO) practice. The team is known for delivering high-quality, commercially focused advice to a wide range of public and private sector clients. Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel – Commercial Contracts (12M FTC)
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £85,000 - £100,000 per annum
Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract – Hybrid (50/50 split between office and home)

What your day-to-day would look like in this Senior Legal Counsel – Commercial Contracts (12M FTC) role:

• Advising clients on a broad range of complex commercial, IT, outsourcing and data privacy matters.
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating high-value and strategically important commercial contracts.
• Working on major outsourcing, technology procurement, SaaS, logistics and facilities management projects.
• Advising on national and international supply chain and customer contracts.
• Supporting major public sector projects, including complex procurement and transformation programmes.
• Leading on high-profile matters for household-name clients, as well as advising mid-sized and growing businesses.
• Collaborating closely with colleagues across the firm, including corporate, real estate and regulatory teams.
• Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers, ensuring high-quality work and effective delegation.
• Building strong, long-term client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives.

What we’re looking for:

• A qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) or equivalent legal qualification, with at least 6 years’ PQE, gained in either private practice or an in-house environment.
• Strong experience advising on complex commercial and technology contracts.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and technical skills.
• Confidence handling a broad caseload with minimal supervision.
• Strong commercial awareness, excellent communication skills, and sound judgement.
• Someone adaptable, proactive and able to quickly integrate into a fast-paced, collaborative team.
