Legal Counsel

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel to join a leading global media advisor. This role is integral to the company's ongoing expansion, with a focus on acquiring service businesses globally in key markets such as the UK, US, China and India. This role is based in Central London and requires 2-3 days per week in the office. The Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing timely, outcome-focused and commercially astute legal advice, with a particular emphasis on contracts, company law, intellectual property and procurement.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, key responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements including customer contracts, vendor agreements, and partnership agreements among others.
  • Providing legal guidance and support to various business departments on day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws (e.g. UK, US, India, China), regulations, and industry standards.
  • Conducting legal research and analysis to stay abreast of relevant legal developments.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement policies and procedures that align with legal requirements and business objectives.
  • Identifying legal risks within the company and advising on appropriate ways to manage and mitigate such risks.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

  • UK-qualified lawyer with at least 4+ PQE, with relevant in-house experience (however all candidates will be considered on merit).
  • Ideally a background in media, advertising, marketing or a digital business.
  • Excellent review and legal drafting skills, with demonstrated competency in commercial contracts.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and ability to work as a sole counsel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate, provide clear advice, and communicate at all levels of the business.
