Our esteemed client is in search of a proficient Commodities Lawyer to become an integral part of their dynamic team. This role presents a thrilling opportunity to engage in a broad spectrum of transactions and projects, primarily emanating from the commodities businesses, including precious metals, base metals and energy. What you'll do:
As a Commodities Lawyer, you will be instrumental in supporting the commodities businesses. Your daily responsibilities will encompass drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commodity agreements, providing expert legal advise on transactions, identifying risks, and assisting the front office in navigating them. You will also collaborate closely with various teams to achieve business objectives while staying updated on evolving legal developments. This role provides an excellent platform for you to demonstrate your skills while contributing significantly to our client's success.

* Draft, review and negotiate an extensive range of commodity agreements and related documentation
* Provide legal counsel on commodity transactions and aspects of contract performance and non-performance as they arise
* Provide advice on a variety of non-commodity legal documentation and related legal issues as required
* Conduct legal analysis to identify risks and assist front office in navigating them within the regulatory framework
* Collaborate closely with the legal team, front office and other departments to achieve business objectives
* Stay abreast of evolving legal developments and contribute to the development and implementation of team initiatives
* Provide clear instructions to, and work effectively with, external legal counsel when necessary


What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this position brings a wealth of experience from either a law firm, investment bank or commodities trading house. You should possess excellent written and oral communication skills, coupled with the ability to manage multiple work streams effectively. Experience in emerging markets and additional language skills would be a distinct advantage.

* Legal qualification in England & Wales or other common law jurisdiction
* Post qualification experience at a law firm, investment bank or commodities trading house
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple work streams
* Knowledge of legal issues pertinent to the commodities sector
* Understanding of PRA/FCA rules and regulations or equivalent
* Understanding of risk management and control mechanisms
* Banking knowledge
* Experience in emerging markets is desirable
* Language skills are desirable
