Key Responsibilities. As the Deputy General Counsel, you will work alongside the current General Counsel who sits on the board and will have daily engagement with the CEO and other senior stakeholders in the business. The role involves advising on areas relating to trade/project finance, general corporate lending as well as asset recoveries/enforcement, financial services regulatory law and corporate law. The role will require working with a great deal of autonomy so a key requirement is to have the ability to effectively balance legal risk management against as minimal external costs as possible to provide value to the business and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have.
As the role sits within a smaller legal function and reports directly into the General Counsel and other senior stakeholders of the business, a broad background in general corporate lending, structured trade finance, commodity and asset finance and financial restructuring transactions.
The pace of the role is fast, so the candidate will be able to effectively handle risk within the business's appetite and manage the broad panel of external counsel for day to day transactional matters.
Ideally the candidate will have come from a magic/silver circle background and have experience in house in a PRA/FCA regulated bank, experience is important in this hire and the ability to face off with senior stakeholders will come with the position, so the candidate will have at least 8 years PQE.
