The General Medical Council helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they are not met.
We’re looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join the GMC’s Projects team, which plays a vital role in the implementation and delivery of all major projects within the organisation.
You will work closely with Project Managers, the business and 3rd party suppliers to design, build and implement new IS solutions and services. You will lead IS projects to develop and enhance the Infrastructure products and services and identify requirements that deliver technical solutions to transition these into a production environment.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Strong experience in leading and coordinating major technical projects
- Detailed knowledge of server and network configurations alongside techniques needed to design and build Infrastructure solutions in an Enterprise environment
- Experience providing 3rd line support for VMware, Cisco and Microsoft based Infrastructure
- Possess an excellent understanding of ITIL, including service design and transition
A good working knowledge of designing, building and supporting current technologies, including:
- VMware 6/ 6.5
- Microsoft Networking (Active Directory/ DNS)
- Microsoft Exchange Online and Outlook 2016
- Office 365
- Windows Server 2008/2012
- Enterprise Storage Area Network
Desirable technical qualifications:
- MCP/ MCSE
- VCP 5 and above
- CCNA/ CCNP
- ITIL certified
