The Senior Director, Data Science will work in close collaboration with the Head of Data & Analytics to develop our data science capabilities in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region. The successful candidate will design, develop, deploy data science solutions for our clients. They will create custom solutions as well as build standardised products. The candidate will also develop and grow the data science team
What You'll Do
• Lead our data science efforts in the EMEA region in close collaboration with the Head of Data & Analytics
• Create custom solutions for projects in the areas of audience & influencer insights, conversation & media analysis, campaign & message performance, event assessment and more
• Derive and build standardised products from custom solutions
• Use statistics and machine learning techniques to solve complex challenges for our clients, especially regarding their communication and reputation efforts
• Detect hidden patterns, identify trends, reveal drivers, predict developments, visualise similarities and differences, and otherwise leverage data to deliver actionable insights
• Identify and build systematic data pipelines
• Develop and grow a cross-regional team of data scientists
• Collaborate with other experts on the research, planning and development of data-driven projects
• Support new business efforts by delivering data-driven insights to inform our approach
• Support the development of thought leadership surrounding emerging trends and issues
• Helps clients identify and escalate risks in order to act and communicate with integrity.
Basic Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
• Relentless intellectual curiosity and exceptional critical thinking
• Experience with exploratory and predictive analytics as well as custom model/tool building
• Passion for tackling challenging problems and skilled in handling ambiguity and uncertainty
• Ability to work with structured and unstructured data
• Expertise in natural language processing
• 7 years of experience in data science and advanced analytics
• Quantitative degree in statistics/computer science/economics/etc. or advanced degree in another subject if quantitative statistical experience comes from elsewhere
• Strong programming skills in Python, SQL and ideally also R
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, preferably AWS and/or Azure
• Experience with big data frameworks, preferably Apache Spark and Databricks
• Expertise with data visualisation tools (preferably Tableau, Gephi)
• Experience in data custom visualisation
