Your Role as Learning and Development Lead:

In this dynamic role, you will lead the charge in developing the organisation’s people strategy by identifying skills gaps, designing tailored training programmes, and delivering engaging learning solutions. You’ll work closely with key stakeholders across all levels of the business to ensure that employees are equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Partnering with managers, People Partners, and business leaders to align learning initiatives with organisational goals.
  • Conducting comprehensive training needs analyses to identify current knowledge gaps and anticipate future skill requirements.
  • Designing and implementing innovative training programmes that cater to both individual development needs and broader business objectives.
  • Leading an effective induction process for new starters to ensure they feel welcomed into the company’s culture and values.
  • Creating engaging training materials that deliver consistent learner experiences across all teams.
  • Staying ahead of industry trends by incorporating best practices and emerging technologies into learning strategies.
  • Delivering interactive in-house training sessions using diverse methods such as workshops, online modules, coaching sessions, or blended approaches.
  • Managing relationships with external training providers, apprenticeship partners, and platform account managers to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Regularly reviewing development programmes for head office and retail teams; gathering feedback to drive continuous improvement.


What You Bring:

To excel in this role, you’ll bring expertise in designing impactful learning solutions alongside exceptional interpersonal skills that foster collaboration across diverse teams. Your ability to communicate effectively—both written and verbal—will enable you to inspire others while delivering high-quality content.

Key skills & experience required:

  • Proven experience in learning and development, with a track record of designing successful training programmes across various sectors or business contexts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust-based relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—with confidence in delivering presentations or facilitating workshops.
  • Financial acumen with an understanding of budget management principles; able to recommend cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Proficiency in digital tools such as Microsoft Office Suite; comfortable analysing data or creating engaging content for multiple platforms.
  • Knowledge of health & safety practices relevant to L&D environments; committed to promoting safe behaviours during training activities.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CIPD (or equivalent) are desirable; minimum GCSE English & Maths at grade C+ (or equivalent) required.
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally within the UK for training sessions or events as needed by the role.
