Managing Director and founder at Act Lean
Stephen is the managing director and founder at Act Lean (www.actlean.co.uk), a UK-based specialist management consultancy, and before that worked at PwC for around 20 years, leading various parts of their UK and European consulting practices, as well as running the UK finance consulting practice for Bearing Point for three years.
Stephen was also a founder board member and external adviser to the UK Shared Services Forum from 2003-5, and was a key player in growing its membership fivefold over two years, and defining the forum goals, operating model and membership structure during his tenure on the board. He's a qualified chartered accountant, has advised clients on all aspects of finance, shared services and operating models for several decades, and has led and advised clients on shared services programmes every year since 1996, even though he initially though it would be a bit of a fad!
As the practice leader of Act Lean, he believes passionately that consultancies should focus on being innovative in how they serve clients, to help them to quickly improve value, cut costs and manage change. Act Lean operates with clients in a way that reverses the traditional consulting model, to minimise business dependency on external support wherever possible, and help clients achieve this quickly and effectively.
