What you'll do:

As a Product Control, Assistant Manager based in Edinburgh, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of daily P&L production while supporting month-end deliverables for commercial banking and treasury products. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating with colleagues across finance functions to uphold rigorous control frameworks, investigate operational issues as they arise, and drive continuous improvements throughout all processes. You will also have opportunities to mentor junior staff members, build lasting relationships with stakeholders, and contribute valuable insights into market developments, especially within Fixed Income.   • Prepare and review daily profit and loss (P&L) statements across a diverse range of commercial banking and treasury products, ensuring accuracy and completeness at all times.
  • Support month-end close processes by independently validating balance sheets and delivering timely financial reports that meet rigorous internal standards.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to maintain robust controls around financial reserves, proactively identifying areas for process improvement and risk mitigation.
  • Investigate and resolve issues as they arise in daily operations, demonstrating flexibility in managing ad hoc requests from stakeholders across the business.
  • Contribute to the delivery of efficiencies by championing a culture of continuous improvement within the Product Control function.
  • Establish strong relationships with internal partners to facilitate the provision of high-quality information and insightful analysis that informs key business decisions.
  • Mentor junior team members by sharing knowledge, providing guidance on best practices, and supporting their ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrate awareness of market trends, particularly in Fixed Income, and apply this understanding to enhance the quality of P&L analysis.
  • Participate in resource sharing initiatives across the department to ensure balanced workloads and foster a spirit of collaboration.

What you bring:

To excel as a Product Control Assistant Manager, you will bring proven experience from similar roles within finance or accounting environments, ideally within banking or large-scale corporate settings.   • Strong analytical skills with proven experience producing accurate reconciliations, formatted charts, sophisticated formulae, and pivot tables within spreadsheets.
