You will be part of a supportive and inclusive finance function where your attention to detail, collaborative approach, and commitment to high standards will be highly valued. The organisation prides itself on its community-first ethos, encouraging open communication, humility, and integrity at every level. With flexible working opportunities and a culture that values professional growth, this position offers you the chance to develop your skills while making meaningful contributions to the wider finance team. * Join a respected financial services organisation with a strong reputation for ethical conduct and community-focused values, offering you the chance to work alongside knowledgeable professionals who are committed to your development. * Benefit from flexible working opportunities and ongoing training initiatives designed to support your career progression within a nurturing and inclusive environment. * Play an integral role in maintaining accurate expense accounting processes, building trusted relationships across departments, and contributing to key business decisions through reliable management information reporting.
What You'll Do:
As an Expense Analyst, you will be entrusted with a variety of responsibilities that ensure the smooth operation of expense accounting functions within the organisation. Your day-to-day activities will involve processing accounts payable transactions, managing supplier records, handling payment runs—including complex FX payments—and preparing detailed month-end journals. You will also play a crucial role in producing insightful management information reports for senior leaders, assisting with audits, and supporting cross-departmental projects. Success in this role requires you to build dependable relationships across teams, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in every task, and uphold the highest standards of regulatory conduct. Your ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels will enable you to contribute positively to the collective goals of the finance department.
* Participate fully in all accounts payable processes related to investment entities, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions.
* Take responsibility for entering data into supplier sub-ledgers and general ledgers, maintaining precision throughout all stages of the process.
* Process weekly payment runs including foreign exchange transactions and individual CHAPS money transfers to suppliers, as well as preparing associated payment journals.
* Manage month-end activities by processing journals for prepayments and accruals, ensuring all entries are correctly recorded and reconciled.
* Set up new suppliers and manage existing supplier records in accordance with procurement policies, safeguarding compliance at every step.
* Create and maintain general ledger accounts, linking them appropriately to budget approvers for effective financial oversight.
* Build partnerships and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders such as fund accounting teams and other finance colleagues.
* Produce monthly management information reports for senior management purposes, providing clear insights into expense trends and variances.
* Assist with both external and internal audit requests as well as ad hoc investigations, demonstrating transparency and accountability in all interactions.
* Support the wider Finance & Investment Accounting team with additional initiatives and business-as-usual requirements as needed.
What You’ll Bring:
In this Expense Analyst position, your proven experience in expense accounting will be invaluable as you navigate complex payment processes and maintain rigorous controls over financial data. Your advanced Excel capabilities will empower you to analyse large volumes of information efficiently while supporting management reporting requirements. You will bring excellent interpersonal skills that foster trust among colleagues across multiple teams. Your reliability ensures that deadlines are met without compromising accuracy or compliance. By drawing on your background in similar roles—ideally supported by relevant qualifications—you will contribute positively to both routine operations and special projects. Your adaptability allows you to respond constructively when priorities shift or new challenges arise.
* Demonstrate strong fundamentals in expense accounting including debits and credits, journal preparation, weekly payment runs, manual foreign exchange payments, and data entry processes.
* Possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills such as pivot tables, vlookup functions, and formulae for efficient data analysis.
* Communicate effectively with individuals at all organisational levels using clear and concise language tailored to each audience.
* Show precision in your work along with robust analytical abilities that allow you to identify discrepancies quickly and resolve them proactively.
* Display a proactive mindset that enables you to anticipate needs within the team and adapt priorities based on evolving business activities.
* Work collaboratively across departments and organisations towards shared objectives while fostering positive interpersonal connections.
* Be recognised as someone others can depend on due to your consistent delivery of accurate results within agreed timelines.
* Exhibit flexibility when responding to changing demands or urgent requests from stakeholders or auditors.
* Hold an AAT qualification or equivalent (desirable but not essential), demonstrating your commitment to ongoing professional development.
* Bring at least two years’ experience in a similar expense analyst or accounts payable role within a finance function.
