Operations Analyst - Listed Derivatives

Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Analyst specialising in Listed Derivatives to join a highly respected Hedge Fund based in London.

This role offers you the chance to work within a knowledgeable and supportive team, where your expertise will be valued and your professional growth encouraged. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring the smooth running of post-trade operations, contributing to the efficiency and reliability of the organisation’s listed derivatives business.

What you'll do:

As an Operations Analyst Listed Derivatives, you will be at the heart of the post-trade lifecycle for listed derivative products. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with both internal stakeholders—such as trading desks, risk managers, compliance officers, and IT specialists—and external partners like brokers and clearing houses. You will be responsible for monitoring trade activity, resolving any discrepancies swiftly, managing exceptions efficiently, and ensuring all settlements occur without delay. Your attention to detail will be crucial when preparing reports for management or responding to audit requests. By actively participating in process improvement initiatives and sharing your insights during team discussions, you will help drive operational excellence while supporting your colleagues’ development. This role provides an excellent platform for you to deepen your understanding of listed derivatives operations while making a tangible contribution to the success of the wider business.

  • Oversee daily operational processes related to listed derivatives, ensuring all trades are accurately captured, reconciled, and settled within required timeframes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as trading, risk management, compliance, and technology to resolve trade discrepancies and ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Monitor trade flows and manage exceptions by investigating breaks or mismatches between front office systems and clearing houses.
  • Liaise with external counterparties including brokers, exchanges, and clearing houses to facilitate timely resolution of queries or issues impacting trade settlement.
  • Support the implementation of new products or process enhancements by participating in user acceptance testing and providing feedback on system changes.
  • Prepare regular reports on operational metrics, outstanding issues, and process improvements for senior management review.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risk.
  • Assist with audit requests by providing accurate records and explanations of operational activities as required by internal or external auditors.
  • Participate in team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions to foster continuous improvement within the operations function.

What you bring:

To excel as an Operations Analyst Listed Derivatives, you will bring proven experience from a similar role within financial services—ideally focused on post-trade operations involving listed derivatives. Your background will include hands-on exposure to trade capture systems, reconciliation tools, settlement processes, and regulatory frameworks governing these products. You will possess strong communication skills that allow you to build positive relationships both internally and externally while demonstrating empathy towards colleagues’ perspectives. Analytical thinking comes naturally to you; you enjoy problem-solving collaboratively rather than individually. Your proficiency with relevant software platforms enables you to handle complex data confidently while maintaining meticulous attention to detail. Above all else, your willingness to share knowledge openly makes you a valued member of any team—helping others grow alongside yourself.

  • Demonstrated experience working within listed derivatives operations or a similar post-trade environment in financial services is essential for success in this role.
  • A thorough understanding of trade capture, reconciliation processes, settlement cycles, and regulatory requirements relevant to listed derivatives is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple departments as well as external partners such as brokers or clearing houses.
  • Strong analytical abilities enable you to investigate complex trade breaks or mismatches quickly and propose practical solutions that minimise risk.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard systems (such as Calypso, Fidessa, or similar platforms) along with advanced Excel skills will support your ability to manage large data sets efficiently.
  • A keen eye for detail ensures accuracy when preparing reports or responding to audit requests; this also helps maintain high standards across all operational activities.
  • Adaptability is important given the fast-evolving nature of financial markets; you should feel comfortable embracing change and learning new processes or technologies as needed.
  • A commitment to knowledge sharing contributes positively to team meetings and fosters an inclusive environment where everyone can learn from each other.
