A leading Hedge Fund is seeking an Operations Analyst to join their London based team on a six-month fixed term contract.
This is a unique opportunity to become part of a highly skilled operations department that supports a diverse range of asset classes and products, including Equity, Fixed Income, OTC, FX, and Listed products. You will be working within a knowledgeable and supportive team that values collaboration and offers flexible working opportunities.
What you'll do:
As an Operations Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the day-to-day functioning of the operations department. Your responsibilities will span across trade capture, affirmation, reconciliation, settlement monitoring, corporate actions processing, exception management, risk control implementation, break investigation, P&L analysis, and close collaboration with global teams. Success in this role requires meticulous attention to detail, effective communication skills tailored for diverse stakeholders, adaptability in learning new processes while contributing ideas for improvement, and a commitment to upholding high standards of operational excellence. You will be integral in ensuring smooth business integration for new projects while maintaining robust controls over existing workflows.
- Support middle office processes for Equity, Fixed Income, OTC, FX, and Listed products by ensuring accurate trade capture and enrichment across multiple platforms.
- Manage affirmation tasks both manually and via platforms such as CTM and TRAX, maintaining high standards of accuracy throughout the process.
- Oversee trade and cash reconciliation activities internally and externally, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
- Handle position or OTE reconciliation including reset calculation and processing to maintain data integrity across trading systems.
- Process corporate actions including event/election management as well as dividend and coupon calculations for various asset classes.
- Investigate trade exceptions thoroughly to ensure timely resolution while minimising operational risk.
- Demonstrate strong risk awareness by applying robust control measures throughout daily operations.
- Conduct break investigations and P&L analysis to support accurate reporting and financial oversight.
- Monitor settlement processes closely to ensure timely completion and address any issues that arise during the lifecycle of trades.
- Collaborate with global counterparts in New York and Singapore to maintain seamless process continuity under the follow-the-sun model.
What you bring:
Your proven experience within financial services operations will enable you to excel as an Operations Analyst. You bring hands-on expertise in middle or back office functions—whether it’s trade lifecycle management or reconciliation—and have demonstrated your ability to handle complex tasks with precision. Your understanding of asset classes such as equities or fixed income instruments positions you well for supporting varied product lines. You possess strong organisational abilities paired with acute attention to detail; these qualities help you manage intricate processes efficiently. Your interpersonal skills allow you to connect with colleagues at all levels—from peers in operations through prime brokers to senior managers—while your flexibility ensures you adapt communication styles appropriately. You are comfortable learning new systems quickly yet remain considerate about suggesting improvements where needed. Above all else, your commitment to inclusivity means you contribute positively towards building a welcoming workplace culture.
- Relevant experience within the financial industry with exposure to middle or back office functions is essential for success in this role.
- Familiarity with elements of trade lifecycle processing including affirmation (manual/platform based), reconciliation (trade/cash/position), corporate actions processing, exception management, risk awareness/control ethos, break/P&L investigation, and settlement oversight is required.
- Experience gained in at least one asset class such as Cash Equity & Intermediated Contracts for Difference/Equity Swaps or Fixed Income Bond/Repo across global markets including emerging markets is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of DTCC CTM, Traiana or TRAX systems would be beneficial but not mandatory for consideration.
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for attention to detail are vital for managing complex operational tasks efficiently.
- Ability to learn new processes quickly while constructively questioning existing procedures to drive continuous improvement is valued by the team.
- Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for communicating effectively with peers in Operations as well as Prime Brokers, Trading Assistants, Portfolio Managers and senior management.
- Capacity to work collaboratively within a team environment while also demonstrating dependability when working autonomously is important for balancing workload demands.
- Commitment to maintaining an inclusive approach that respects diversity among colleagues is expected from all team members.
- Flexibility in adapting communication style according to audience ensures successful interactions across different levels of the organisation.
