Operations Analyst
I am currently partnered with a global leading Hedge Fund who are seeking a highly capable Operations Analyst to join their London based Operations team on a six month FTC.
This is an exceptional opportunity for you to become part of a knowledgeable and supportive group that works across global markets, supporting a wide range of asset classes and products. The role offers exposure to complex middle office processes, including trade capture, reconciliation, settlement, and life cycle management, while collaborating with colleagues in New York and Singapore.
- Join a globally connected operations team that supports Equity, Fixed Income, OTC, FX, and Listed products across all major markets, offering you broad exposure and valuable experience.
- Contribute directly to new business integration projects and product development initiatives while enjoying supportive leadership focused on your professional development.
What you'll do:
As an Operations Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless execution of middle office functions across diverse asset classes. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve supporting trade processing activities from capture through settlement while maintaining high standards of accuracy. You will collaborate with colleagues around the globe to uphold process continuity using a follow-the-sun approach. In addition to managing exceptions and reconciling trades and cash flows across various products—including OTC derivatives—you will also contribute to the successful integration of new business initiatives. Your ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels will be essential for fostering strong working relationships within the organisation.
- Support the full spectrum of middle office processes including trade capture, enrichment, affirmation, confirmation, reconciliation, settlement, life cycle management, corporate actions, and data maintenance.
- Collaborate closely with global counterparts in New York and Singapore to ensure process continuity through a follow-the-sun operational model.
- Manage trade exception handling by investigating breaks and P&L discrepancies across multiple asset classes.
- Oversee affirmation and confirmation processing for trades in bilateral ISDA OTC (Rates, Credit, Equity, Commodities, FX), intermediated OTC FX, cleared ISDA OTC Rates/Credit, equity swaps, commodity swaps, and emerging markets.
- Perform trade and cash reconciliations with meticulous attention to detail to maintain accuracy across all transactions.
- Handle compressions and blend processing tasks efficiently to support ongoing business mandates.
- Execute OTC and FX settlements including calculations, pre-settlement agreements, payment processing, and credit event management.
- Utilise industry systems such as MarkitWire, FXALL, ICE, SWIFT, and TriOptima for daily operational activities.
- Participate in the integration of new business projects by adapting existing processes or developing new ones as required.
- Communicate effectively with peers in Operations as well as Prime Brokers, Trading Assistants, Portfolio Managers, and senior management.
What you bring:
To excel in this role you will bring proven experience from the financial sector—ideally having worked within operations or middle/back office teams supporting complex trade lifecycle activities. Your background should include hands-on involvement with affirmation/confirmation processes; reconciliation duties; settlement procedures; exception management; credit event handling; and exposure across multiple asset classes such as rates/equity/commodities/fx derivatives. Familiarity with key industry platforms will help you adapt quickly but your willingness to learn new systems is equally important. Your interpersonal skills—especially your ability to communicate thoughtfully with colleagues at all levels—will set you apart. A methodical approach combined with flexibility ensures you can thrive both independently and collaboratively within this supportive team environment.
- Demonstrable experience within the financial industry with direct exposure to operations or middle/back office functions is mandatory for success in this role.
- Proven familiarity with elements of trade lifecycle processing such as affirmation/confirmation handling, reconciliation tasks (trade/cash), compressions/blend processing, OTC/FX settlements (including calculations/pre-settlement agreement/payment), exception management (breaks/P&L investigation), and credit event processing.
- Hands-on experience gained in one or more asset classes: bilateral ISDA OTC (Rates/Credit/Equity/Commodities/FX), intermediated OTC FX trading environments; cleared ISDA OTC Rates/Credit; equity/commodity swaps; global markets including emerging markets.
- Practical knowledge of industry-standard systems such as MarkitWire, FXALL, ICE, SWIFT or TriOptima is beneficial but not essential.
- Exceptional organisational skills combined with a keen eye for attention to detail are vital for maintaining accuracy throughout complex processes.
- Ability to learn quickly while being comfortable carrying out established procedures—and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement or streamlining existing workflows.
- Excellent communication skills enabling you to tailor your style when interacting with peers in Operations as well as external parties like Prime Brokers or internal stakeholders such as Trading Assistants/Portfolio Managers/senior management.
- Capacity to work collaboratively within a team setting while also demonstrating dependability when working autonomously on assigned tasks.
- Motivation to contribute positively within an inclusive environment that values diversity across gender/race/religion/disability/age/sexual orientation/nationality.
