Transaction Processing Officer

Save job

A leading global investment manager is seeking a Transaction Processing Officer for a 12 month fixed term contract based in London. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless post execution processing of trades, supporting both fixed income and equity transactions across international markets. The position offers exposure to a wide range of asset classes and operational processes, as well as daily interaction with internal departments and external partners.

What you'll do:

As a Transaction Processing Officer, you will be immersed in the dynamic world of post-trade operations. Your day-to-day activities will centre around ensuring that every aspect of trade processing—from booking through settlement—is executed with precision. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across multiple departments as well as external brokers and custodians to guarantee smooth transaction flows. By monitoring trade statuses throughout their lifecycle, escalating issues when necessary, and driving process improvements, you will play an integral role in reducing settlement risk for the business. Your ability to respond quickly to queries from clients or third parties will be crucial in maintaining high standards of service delivery. Additionally, your involvement in audit support activities will further reinforce the company’s commitment to regulatory compliance. The role also includes rotational shift coverage for LATAM hours (one week every two months), giving you valuable exposure to global markets.

  • Undertake daily transaction processing duties within the Tradeflow section, providing essential coverage during periods of high volume or unexpected absences to ensure business continuity.
  • Ensure all defined standards, procedures, and policies are consistently followed while proactively identifying potential efficiencies to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Meet all deadlines and deliverables both individually and as part of the wider team by maintaining excellent organisational skills and clear communication.
  • Escalate exceptions or issues promptly to senior team members or the Head of Transaction Processing to ensure timely resolution and minimise operational risk.
  • Continuously review existing processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement that maximise efficiency and accuracy within the transaction lifecycle.
  • Develop strong working relationships with colleagues across Investment Management, Compliance, Legal, Risk Management, Distribution, Finance, HR, as well as third-party service providers to foster effective collaboration.
  • Monitor fixed income and equity trade flows to confirm that all bookings, cancellations, and amendments are processed accurately and instructions are sent to relevant counterparties and custodians without delay.
  • Ensure timely confirmation of all trades—including fixed income, equity, and repos—by checking supporting documentation where required and authorising transactions before market submission.
  • Investigate breaks or failing trades promptly by liaising with internal teams or external parties to resolve issues efficiently while validating any debit interest or claims raised by custodians.
  • Support internal, client, and regulatory audit requirements by preparing accurate records and responding to queries from business partners or third parties in a timely manner.

What you bring:

To excel in this role, your background should reflect substantial experience gained within either an investment management firm or an investment bank. Your proven track record handling complex trade instructions—spanning confirmations through settlements—will enable you to navigate intricate operational workflows confidently. A keen eye for detail paired with robust analytical thinking ensures that you can spot discrepancies early on while maintaining high levels of accuracy even during peak periods. Your proficiency with key technology platforms such as Microsoft Office—and ideally DTCC CTM or Bloomberg’s FailStation—will allow you to adapt quickly within the team’s established systems. Just as important are your interpersonal strengths: your ability to communicate clearly across functions fosters trust among colleagues while ensuring efficient issue resolution. Your collaborative spirit means you thrive when sharing responsibilities with others; meanwhile your responsiveness makes you a dependable point of contact for both internal stakeholders and external partners alike.

  • A minimum of seven years’ experience within an investment management firm or investment bank is essential for success in this role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of trade instruction processes including confirmations, fails management, settlements procedures, and related documentation requirements.
  • Proven flexibility in managing urgent tasks while adjusting seamlessly to shifting priorities within a fast-moving environment.
  • Exceptional organisational skills combined with strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail are vital for maintaining accuracy under pressure.
  • Competence using Microsoft Office applications is required; familiarity with DTCC CTM, Bloomberg’s FailStation platform, SWIFT messaging systems or derivatives processing would be advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to build positive relationships with colleagues across departments as well as external service providers.
  • A collaborative mindset with a willingness to share knowledge openly within the team while supporting others during busy periods or absences.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills allowing you to respond effectively to business queries from clients or third parties.
  • Experience supporting internal audits or regulatory reviews by preparing accurate records is highly desirable for this position.
