Senior Underwriter

A reputable Insurance firm is seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Senior Underwriter to join their team. This remote role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of customers, assessing risk factors and making critical decisions on life, critical illness cover, and income protection applications.

The successful candidate will have the autonomy to agree on policy terms, request additional information, and ensure accurate coverage for customers. This role also involves participation in projects aimed at enhancing the underwriting process and improving commercial viability.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Underwriter, your primary responsibility will be to review customer applications, identifying risk factors associated with Life, Critical Illness Cover, and Income Protection applications. You will have the autonomy to decide on policy terms or request additional information from either the customer or their doctor. Your role will also involve participating in or leading projects that enhance the underwriting process and improve our systems commercial viability. You will ensure that any requests for further information are appropriate, accurate, and commensurate with the risk being assessed. Additionally, you will take ownership of maintaining an excellent knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements.

  • Review customer applications to identify risk factors
  • Decide on policy terms or request additional information as needed
  • Ensure accurate coverage for customers enabling them to make a claim if required
  • Participate in or lead projects aimed at enhancing the underwriting process
  • Ensure requests for further information are appropriate and accurate
  • Identify complaints and ensure they are acted upon quickly
  • Accurately record all work daily for effective business decision making
  • Maintain an excellent knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements
