Payroll Team Leader – Milton Keynes (Hybrid Working)
We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading global organisation recognised for its innovation and continued growth. They are seeking an experienced Payroll Team Leader to oversee a busy and high-performing payroll operation supporting a large, multi-site workforce across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated payroll professional to step into a key leadership role within a respected and forward-thinking business. Based at the Milton Keynes office with the flexibility of hybrid working, you’ll manage a dedicated team responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees.
- Ensure full compliance with PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and statutory regulations.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop payroll staff, fostering professional growth and high performance.
- Act as the main point of contact for escalated payroll queries and internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with HMRC, auditors, and other external bodies, representing the organisation in audits and regulatory discussions.
- Manage payroll software, upgrades, and system integrity.
- Implement controls and reconciliations to minimise errors and ensure accurate reporting.
- Provide KPIs and payroll insights to senior leadership to support data-driven decision-making.
- Contribute to payroll transformation projects and strategic initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and automation.
About You:

Experienced payroll professional with a strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements.

Proven background managing high-volume or multi-site payrolls.

Skilled in leading and developing teams, balancing technical expertise with people management.

Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.

Confident building collaborative relationships with HR, Finance, and senior leaders.

Experience in system upgrades, audits, and process improvements.

CIPP qualification (or equivalent experience) preferred.
