Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join their dynamic team in London. This role offers an exciting opportunity to act as the Line of Business Financial Controllers for businesses under ownership, ensuring that the end-to-end financial control framework supports the production of an IFRS compliant balance sheet and income statement for assigned lines of business. The successful candidate will have the chance to work closely with the Fixed Income & Currencies (FIC) trading desk, Product Control and Operations teams, developing a deep understanding of the underlying business.

What you'll do:

You will play a crucial role in ensuring that the end-to-end financial control framework supports the production of an IFRS compliant balance sheet and income statement for assigned lines of business. You will be working closely with various teams including the Fixed Income & Currencies (FIC) trading desk, Product Control and Operations. Your responsibilities will include maintaining a strong control environment, coordinating successful month end closes, monitoring balances in key control accounts, performing month end Balance Sheet reconciliations and assisting in the preparation of annual financial statements disclosures.

• Work closely with the Fixed Income & Currencies (FIC) trading desk, Product Control and Operations to ensure appropriate controls and reconciliations are in place.
• Maintain strong control environment by coordinating quarterly risk control self-assessments.
• Coordinate successful month end close for assigned lines of business.
• Monitor balances in key control & suspense accounts, sub-ledger to main ledger breaks.
• Perform month end Balance Sheet reconciliations and attestations for key products.
• Assist in preparation of annual financial statements disclosures in accordance with IFRS standards.

What you bring:

• Qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA with undergraduate degree in quantitative fields.
• At least 3 years post qualification experience with majority of work experience gained in banking and financial services.
• Solid knowledge of the accounting treatment of investment banking products and financial instruments.
• Strong IT skills, particularly advanced Excel.
• Proactive, driven and able to work with minimal management support.
• Excellent communication skills.
