Chief Accountant required: This is an excellent opportunity to join and develop the responsibility within the Finance function within an international bank. The creation of the UK subsidiary has increased UKE’s responsibilities to include for example capital and liquidity management, financial/risk reporting and producing statutory accounts and annual report for the UK plc as well as participation in the subsidiary’s developed governance.
The Chief Accountant is responsible for the UK statutory accounting, accounting policy and to monitor, interpret and implement local and international accounting standards as well as determine accounting treatment of products and transactions. Further the responsibilities include management of external auditors and a close cooperation with the UK Board Audit Committee.
You will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for building a specialised function in the centre of UK, expected to work in a close and informal cooperation with Business and Financial Control, Capital Management, Regulatory reporting and Tax. Your experience is expected to contribute positively to the strategic development of the accounting and finance function, but also to the development of staff which is an important requirement as we seek to build long term accounting capability and a good platform for internal succession.
Working in an expanding and evolving Finance department, this is an important and influential role, that offers you the opportunity to develop personally and broaden your professional experience. The expectation of the outward look you will be able to continue an external focus and be up to date in the accounting and regulatory environment. You will also need to gain the experience of the UK business’ practice and products. Further you will develop a broad network from interactions within the bank and external counterparties.
You should already be working as a manager and have a good technical accounting background and qualification. Experience of the Bank’s accounting and control functions would be an advantage along with the ability to influence change and work with your staff to build competence and succession opportunities. Good interpersonal/communication skills in both written and spoken English are also required.
