What you'll do:
As Loan Origination Vice President in London, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the lending landscape for SME borrowers seeking bridging or development finance. Your day-to-day activities will involve sourcing new deals through various channels while maintaining a transparent pipeline from enquiry to completion. You will apply your expertise in structuring transactions that balance commercial objectives with prudent risk management. By conducting thorough underwriting assessments and preparing detailed documentation for each deal, you will help ensure that every transaction meets regulatory standards while delivering an exceptional borrower experience. - Source SME loan deals through brokers, introducers, direct channels, and strategic partnerships to ensure a steady flow of high-quality opportunities.
- Quickly qualify leads against product criteria, risk parameters, and funding requirements to maintain an efficient origination process.
- Build, manage, and report on a robust origination pipeline from initial enquiry through to successful completion, ensuring transparency at every stage.
- Structure deals thoughtfully to align with both borrower needs and lender risk appetite by considering factors such as LTV, LTC, ICR/DSCR, covenants, and exit strategies.
- Conduct thorough first-pass underwriting including assessment of borrower background, credit history, affordability analysis, viability checks, and security evaluation covering property type, location, valuation methodology (desktop/full RICS), planning status, title review, and legal issues.
- Prepare comprehensive term sheets, heads of terms documents, and detailed credit applications that reflect accurate deal structuring and pricing based on risk profile, duration, and funding source.
- Negotiate terms collaboratively with introducers and borrowers to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes that support long-term relationships.
- Drive cases through credit committee approval by presenting risks clearly alongside mitigants and sensitivities for informed decision-making.
- Oversee pre-completion conditions such as valuation reports, monitoring surveyor assessments, legal due diligence processes, insurance arrangements, and collateral perfection to ensure smooth execution.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate and facilitate seamless completion processes including drawdown schedules for development facilities.

- Advanced analytical skills encompassing cash flow modelling (interest retention/rolled interest), LTV/LTC analysis, stress testing scenarios, and sensitivity analysis related to exit strategies.
- Commercial acumen reflected in effective negotiation techniques, pricing strategies, margin management practices, channel strategy development, and broker engagement.
- Comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks including KYC/AML procedures, sanctions screening protocols, data protection regulations, UK property law basics (titles/charges/SPVs/guarantees).
- Exceptional stakeholder management abilities demonstrated through clear communication with borrowers, brokers, surveyors, lawyers, internal teams as well as external partners.
