A leading banking organisation is currently seeking an AML Officer to join its operations in Manchester. Reporting to the AML Manager, the purpose of the role is to deliver, maintain and support adherence of CDD frameworks in line with internal policy.
Key duties include:
- Assist the AML Manager with the assessment and implementation of Financial Crime Policy requirements, in particular those related to CDD .
Proactively identify and implement changes to processes and policies to improve the control environment and risk culture
Provide expert and risk sensitive advice to Front Office and Operations on Financial Crime queries/escalations.
Assess higher risk customers, including PEPs.
Work with Second Line of Defence to agree ‘risk based exceptions’, whilst continuing to ensure effective CDD controls.
Assist the AML Manager with the delivery of training for front office and operations based colleagues.
Act as the initial point of contact for the business and operations on CDD related matters
Support CDD activities of the Financial Crime team as well as any related projects and remediation activity, including the development of the new customer database tool, and CDD initiative.
Ensure escalation of developing risks, or trends, to the AML Manager
Ensure compliance with all relevant company policies, and deliver against statutory, regulatory and legal obligations.
The successful candidate will have:
- Background performing an AML role with specific focus on CDD requirements
Ideally an AML related qualification or equivalent
- Proven ability to articulate an understanding of the customer touch points or impact on customers throughout an organisation in relation to AML requirements.
- High level understanding of regulatory and statutory obligations with strong awareness of international AML standards.and risk management.
Ability to write risk papers to effectively document highly technical and complex financial crime issues in a clear and well presented manner.
Excellent communication, decision making, relationship management and stakeholder management skills.
High attention to detail.
