Accounts Payable Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Payable Manager to join a highly respected financial services organisation based in London. This role offers the chance to oversee a dedicated team of three Accounts Payable professionals, while also managing relationships with an offshore outsourced function. The position covers the EMEA region, including key locations such as Luxembourg and Amsterdam, requiring you to bring your expertise in navigating the complexities of multi-jurisdictional finance operations. You will play a pivotal part in leading change initiatives following a recent transition to a new invoicing system, ensuring best practices are embedded across all processes. If you are looking for a hands-on role where your adaptability, willingness to learn, and commitment to supporting others will be valued, this is the perfect next step in your career. With ongoing projects across Europe and clear pathways for progression, this is an ideal environment for someone eager to grow within a supportive and inclusive team.
* Take on a central role managing both an in-house team and offshore partners, ensuring seamless accounts payable operations across multiple European regions.
* Be at the forefront of process improvement and change management following the implementation of a new invoicing system, making a tangible impact on business efficiency.
* Enjoy significant opportunities for professional growth and development within a collaborative environment that values adaptability, learning, and supportive leadership.
What You'll Do:
As an Accounts Payable Manager, you will immerse yourself in every aspect of the accounts payable lifecycle while guiding both your immediate team in London and collaborating closely with offshore partners. Your days will be filled with opportunities to solve challenges unique to cross-border finance operations—whether it’s adapting workflows for different regulatory environments or spearheading projects that streamline processes across EMEA. You’ll be instrumental in embedding new ways of working following a major system upgrade, ensuring everyone feels supported through change. By nurturing talent within your team and building bridges between departments and regions, you’ll help create an environment where everyone can thrive together. Your ability to remain adaptable, approachable, and committed to shared success will set you apart as you drive operational excellence throughout the business.
* Oversee the day-to-day activities of three Accounts Payable staff members based in London, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high performance and professional growth.
* Act as the primary point of contact for escalations within the Accounts Payable function, resolving complex queries efficiently and maintaining strong working relationships with internal stakeholders.
* Manage outsourced accounts payable operations located offshore, ensuring service level agreements are met and fostering effective collaboration between teams.
* Lead the integration and optimisation of a newly implemented invoicing system, driving process improvements and embedding best practices throughout the department.
* Coordinate accounts payable activities across multiple EMEA regions, including Luxembourg and Amsterdam, adapting processes to meet local regulatory requirements and business needs.
* Participate actively in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing financial operations within different European jurisdictions, contributing your expertise to deliver successful outcomes.
* Champion change management initiatives by communicating effectively with team members about new processes or systems and providing necessary training or support.
* Monitor key performance indicators for accounts payable processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions that enhance accuracy and efficiency.
* Ensure compliance with company policies as well as regional financial regulations by maintaining robust controls over payment processing and documentation.
* Foster an inclusive team culture that encourages knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and mutual support among colleagues.
What You’ll Bring:
To excel as an Accounts Payable Manager in this role, you will bring not only technical proficiency but also genuine enthusiasm for supporting others’ growth. Your previous experience managing teams—particularly those operating across borders—will enable you to navigate cultural differences sensitively while upholding consistent standards. You understand what good looks like in accounts payable processes because you’ve been hands-on yourself; this practical insight allows you to spot inefficiencies quickly and implement meaningful improvements. Your communication style is considerate yet clear—essential when guiding colleagues through change or resolving escalated issues. Above all else, your openness to learning ensures you remain adaptable amid evolving technologies or regulations. Whether your background is rooted firmly in financial services or another sector altogether, your collaborative spirit will make you an invaluable asset.
* Demonstrated experience managing or leading an accounts payable function within a complex organisational structure involving both onshore teams and offshore outsourcing partners.
* Proven track record of successfully overseeing accounts payable operations across multiple European regions such as Luxembourg or Amsterdam, with an understanding of local regulatory nuances.
* Hands-on approach with a willingness to engage directly in transactional processes when required while also providing strategic oversight.
* Experience implementing or optimising financial systems—ideally having led teams through transitions involving new invoicing platforms or similar technology upgrades.
* Strong background in change management within finance functions; able to communicate changes clearly and provide effective training or support during periods of transformation.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster collaboration among diverse teams spread across different geographies.
* A history of acting as a point of escalation for complex issues within accounts payable or related finance functions, demonstrating sound judgement under pressure.
* Commitment to nurturing talent by mentoring junior staff members and encouraging their professional development within an inclusive environment.
* Adaptability when faced with shifting priorities or evolving business needs; open-mindedness towards learning new skills or approaches as required by changing circumstances.
* Ideally prior exposure to financial services or private equity environments; however candidates from other backgrounds who demonstrate relevant skills are encouraged to apply.
