Our client is seeking a dedicated Transactional Finance Manager to join their expanding finance team in Manchester City Centre. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with robust leadership skills, a comprehensive background in transactional finance, and a passion for process enhancement. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuring precision, efficiency, and compliance across the team.

What you'll do:

As a Transactional Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our client's growing finance team. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the daily operations of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. This includes overseeing supplier payments, invoice processing, bank reconciliations, customer collections, and more. You will also be tasked with maintaining strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers/customers. Your proactive approach will be crucial in reviewing current processes and controls to drive efficiencies within the team.

  • Manage and support a small team; providing guidance, training, and regular performance feedback
  • Oversee all transactional finance processes including supplier payments, invoice processing, bank reconciliations, and customer collections
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices and payment runs
  • Monitor customer accounts and support effective credit control to reduce aged debt
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers/customers
  • Review and improve current processes and controls, driving efficiencies within the team
  • Support month-end close processes related to AP and AR, including reconciliations and reporting
  • Act as the first point of escalation for queries or disputes
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Assist with audit preparation and year-end reporting as required

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Transactional Finance Manager position brings proven experience in a similar role along with previous experience managing or supervising a small finance team. You possess a strong understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes. Your excellent organisational skills coupled with your ability to communicate effectively make you an asset to any team. You are confident working with finance systems and have intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Your ability to work under pressure while managing competing deadlines sets you apart from others. Lastly, your proactive, problem-solving mindset and strong attention to detail will be key to your success in this role.

  • Proven experience in a similar transactional finance or finance operations role
  • Previous experience managing or supervising a small finance team
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Confident in working with finance systems and Excel (intermediate to advanced level)
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail
