An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Tax Manager to join a well-established finance team based in Milton Keynes. This pivotal role offers you the chance to oversee all aspects of UK, Republic of Ireland, European etc, corporate tax compliance, advice, and planning activities across multiple entities.

As Tax Manager based in Milton Keynes, you will play a central role in managing intricate corporate tax matters across several jurisdictions. Your day-to-day activities will involve reviewing corporation tax returns for both UK entities and international branches while leading year-end reporting processes under various accounting standards. You will provide valuable advisory input on key business projects such as acquisitions or restructurings. In addition to handling indirect taxes like VAT and PAYE, you will liaise regularly with HMRC during audits or enquiries. By leveraging established policies to mitigate risks efficiently, you’ll work collaboratively with external advisors and internal teams. Staying abreast of legislative changes will be crucial as you advise on their implications for the business. Supporting transfer pricing documentation efforts and assisting colleagues in the US Corporate Tax team are also integral parts of your remit. Success in this role hinges on your ability to balance technical expertise with effective communication across departments.

  • Manage and review UK and international corporation tax returns and computations, ensuring timely and accurate submission to HMRC and relevant international tax authorities.
  • Lead the year-end tax reporting process under UK GAAP, local accounting standards, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), providing comprehensive oversight throughout.
  • Provide expert tax advisory support on business projects including acquisitions, restructurings, and financing arrangements to optimise outcomes for the organisation.
  • Oversee VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax, R&D claims, Patent Box applications, P11Ds, and PAYE Settlement Agreements (PSAs), maintaining full compliance with all indirect tax obligations.
  • Liaise effectively with HMRC during audits, enquiries, and correspondence to ensure positive resolutions and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies.
  • Utilise existing tax policies and processes to identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies that enhance efficiency across the finance function.
  • Work closely with external tax advisors, auditors, as well as internal legal counsel to ensure robust compliance and informed decision-making on complex matters.
  • Monitor changes in UK and international tax legislation; assess their impact on the business; provide actionable advice for required actions and risk mitigation.
  • Support transfer pricing documentation requirements alongside cross-border tax compliance activities for diverse geographical locations.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Tax team based in the US to complete tax returns, provide audit support, and implement new processes as needed.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Tax Manager position brings substantial experience from previous roles focused on corporate taxation within large organisations or multinational environments. Your proven track record includes navigating complex regulatory frameworks both domestically (UK) and internationally (ROI, SA possibly US exposure). You possess deep familiarity with technical aspects such as transfer pricing documentation requirements or indirect taxes like VAT/PAYE. Your background demonstrates successful collaboration with external advisors or auditors during high-stakes audits or project implementations. You excel at interpreting legislative changes quickly—translating them into practical recommendations that safeguard organisational interests. Your interpersonal skills foster productive relationships across departments while your attention to detail ensures accuracy in every aspect of reporting or compliance work. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel further enhances your ability to analyse financial data thoroughly. If you have additional exposure to ASC740 standards or similar systems—even better—but above all else your commitment to continuous learning sets you apart.
