A leading blue chip organisation organisation is seeking an Assistant Operations Accountant to join their finance team in Warrington on a temporary basis, offering hybrid working arrangements. This role presents an exciting opportunity for someone who is part-qualified and eager to further develop their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.

As an Assistant Operations Accountant based in Warrington, you will be entrusted with producing insightful weekly contract management reports as well as client-focused financial summaries. Your day-to-day activities will involve managing month-end close procedures, preparing comprehensive sector reporting packs, coordinating quarterly forecasts, and developing budgets that align with client expectations.

Key duties include:

  • Oversee the production of weekly contract management reports, including presenting results and explaining variances to operational teams.
  • Prepare weekly client management reports, ensuring clear communication of results and variance explanations to client management.
  • Manage month-end close activities and produce monthly sector reporting packs covering both profit & loss and balance sheet for group review.
  • Coordinate month-end close processes for clients, delivering comprehensive monthly reporting packs that meet contractual requirements.
  • Lead the quarterly forecast process by preparing detailed presentations of results for the Operations Director and Finance Director.
  • Develop budgets and forecasts for clients in line with agreed timetables, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Support the management of financial risk by signing off new contracted business streams and assisting with aged debt recovery initiatives.
  • Enhance the financial reporting suite so it meets evolving business needs and reflects industry best practice standards.

In the Assistant Operations Accountant role, your proven experience as a part-qualified accountant—ideally gained within logistics or transport—will be invaluable. Your interpersonal skills will allow you to connect easily with both finance colleagues and operational leaders, fostering an atmosphere of trust and cooperation.

You will have experience in the following areas:

  • Part-qualified accountant actively studying towards ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualifications with a solid grasp of management accounting principles.
  • Previous experience working within logistics, transport or other fast-moving operational environments is highly advantageous for success in this role.
  • Confident communicator who can build effective relationships with non-finance stakeholders across various departments.
  • Exceptional analytical skills combined with advanced Excel proficiency enable you to interpret large volumes of data and present key insights clearly.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving demonstrates your commitment to continuous improvement within finance processes.
  • Highly organised individual who pays attention to detail while consistently meeting tight deadlines in a dynamic workplace.
