What you'll do:

As a Junior Assistant Accountant, you will play an integral role within our growing finance team. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting with the maintenance of company accounts, preparing financial reports, and supporting the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations. You will also be involved in improving financial processes and contributing ideas for streamlining workflows. This role provides an excellent opportunity for you to develop your skills while gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment.

* Assist with maintaining company accounts, including preparing and reviewing monthly financial reports (P&L and Balance Sheet)

* Support the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying potential errors or discrepancies

* Assist in the review and posting of GL accounting entries and raise journals where necessary

* Help prepare management accounts for various Profit Centres, ensuring accuracy before publication

* Conduct basic analytical reviews to identify and resolve any errors or discrepancies

* Provide support to senior team members with financial reporting and audit queries

* Contribute to the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns and other compliance-related tasks

* Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts and support with external audit requirements

* Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business decision-making

* Help improve financial processes and contribute ideas for streamlining workflows

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Junior Assistant Accountant position is someone who is studying towards a professional qualification or has a strong desire to begin one. You should have a basic understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles, along with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for engaging with stakeholders effectively. You should also have good organisational skills, the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines, and competent Excel skills. A proactive and positive attitude with a desire to learn and grow within the role is highly desirable.

* Studying towards a professional qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or strong desire to begin qualification

* Basic understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all tasks

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with stakeholders clearly and effectively

* Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines

* Competent Excel skills, with familiarity with formulas such as VLOOKUPs and pivot tables (training provided if needed)

* A proactive and positive attitude with a desire to learn and grow within the role
