An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Interim Site Accountant (6-month contract) to join a well-established manufacturing organisation based in Leicestershire 3 days a week on site. This role offers you the chance to act as the principal finance lead for a brand leading customer. You will be at the heart of financial governance, providing essential support and guidance as a trusted business partner to the Site General Manager.

As an Interim Site Accountant based in Leicestershire, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial direction of both site operations and customer accounts. Your day-to-day activities will involve reviewing profit & loss statements, preparing balance sheets, presenting performance metrics, and collaborating with various stakeholders to drive continuous improvement. You will be responsible for ensuring transparent reporting practices are maintained while actively seeking opportunities to optimise profitability. By working closely with both internal teams and external customers, you will foster a culture of shared success through effective business partnering. Your ability to analyse data trends, prepare budgets and forecasts, and implement robust commercial solutions will be crucial in supporting operational excellence.   • Review daily, weekly, and monthly profit & loss statements for both internal operations and customers, providing insightful business commentary including detailed variance analysis.
  • Undertake nominal ledger tasks such as processing journals, managing cross-charges, and performing period-end reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Deliver comprehensive analysis of key business performance drivers and internal reporting trends, supporting the development of profit improvement plans for both site operations and customers.
  • Present weekly and monthly financial results alongside KPI performance metrics to stakeholders, ensuring clarity and transparency in all communications.
  • Prepare balance sheet summaries with supporting reconciliations, proactively identifying areas of financial risk or opportunity to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with customers to support ongoing account improvements through robust commercial solutions that optimise profit while minimising associated risks.
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for both internal operations and customers in partnership with senior management teams.
  • Work alongside internal support functions to guarantee timely production of accurate financial reports that meet organisational standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for customer and internal reporting processes, enhancing procedures that underpin sound business decisions.
  • Support the site operational team by sharing best practices in financial management and contributing to overall site performance.

What you bring:

To excel as an Interim Site Accountant, you will bring proven experience from previous roles within accounting, ideally gained in logistics or transport environments, where you have demonstrated your ability to work collaboratively across teams. Your interpersonal skills will enable you to build dependable relationships with stakeholders at all levels while maintaining transparency in all aspects of reporting. You will possess strong analytical abilities that allow you to interpret complex data sets and communicate findings effectively. Your commitment to accuracy ensures that all financial records are meticulously maintained even when working under tight deadlines. By leveraging your expertise in budgeting, forecasting, reconciliation processes, and risk identification, you will contribute positively towards operational improvements.   • Qualified Accountant, or qualified by experience (QBE), demonstrating commitment to professional development within finance.
  • Proven experience in a similar accounting role within manufacturing, automotive or logistics, showcasing your understanding of industry-specific challenges.
  • Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships with sensitivity and professionalism under pressure.
  • Demonstrated competence in forecasting and budgeting as core competencies essential for effective financial planning.
  • Exceptional attention to detail when handling tight deadlines and maintaining cleanliness in reporting processes.
  • Strong track record of successful business partnering with operational managers at site level.
  • Expertise in reconciling daily, weekly, and monthly data entries to maintain accurate balance sheets.
  • Capability to articulate clear narratives around financial performance drivers for diverse audiences.
  • Experience identifying areas of risk or opportunity within site performance through analytical review.
