Finance Analyst Role Overview

  • Develop, maintain, and update a range of financial and commercial models used to assess performance and future opportunities.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of proposed initiatives through detailed investment and value‑for‑money analysis.
  • Provide analytical input into pricing discussions and commercial proposals, supporting long‑term sustainability.
  • Review financial outcomes of completed activities, comparing results to original expectations and highlighting key findings.
  • Support cost tracking and financial oversight for projects and operational activity.
  • Assist in forecasting and planning exercises, ensuring forward‑looking information is robust and actionable.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to align financial assumptions and ensure consistent methodologies are applied.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, or clarity within finance processes and reporting.
  • Prepare bespoke analysis and reports in response to specific business questions as they arise.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across finance and the wider organisation to support shared objectives.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Strong numerical and analytical ability, with advanced spreadsheet skills and experience building financial models.
  • Progress towards, or completion of part‑qualification in, a recognised accounting or finance qualification.
  • Ability to manage responsibilities independently while contributing effectively within a team setting.
  • Sound judgement and problem‑solving capability when managing competing priorities.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, able to explain financial concepts to varied audiences.
  • Commercial awareness, with interest in how financial analysis informs performance and decision‑making.
