Finance Analyst Role Overview
- Develop, maintain, and update a range of financial and commercial models used to assess performance and future opportunities.
- Evaluate the financial impact of proposed initiatives through detailed investment and value‑for‑money analysis.
- Provide analytical input into pricing discussions and commercial proposals, supporting long‑term sustainability.
- Review financial outcomes of completed activities, comparing results to original expectations and highlighting key findings.
- Support cost tracking and financial oversight for projects and operational activity.
- Assist in forecasting and planning exercises, ensuring forward‑looking information is robust and actionable.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to align financial assumptions and ensure consistent methodologies are applied.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, or clarity within finance processes and reporting.
- Prepare bespoke analysis and reports in response to specific business questions as they arise.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across finance and the wider organisation to support shared objectives.
Required Experience and Skills
- Strong numerical and analytical ability, with advanced spreadsheet skills and experience building financial models.
- Progress towards, or completion of part‑qualification in, a recognised accounting or finance qualification.
- Ability to manage responsibilities independently while contributing effectively within a team setting.
- Sound judgement and problem‑solving capability when managing competing priorities.
- Clear and confident communication skills, able to explain financial concepts to varied audiences.
- Commercial awareness, with interest in how financial analysis informs performance and decision‑making.
