Development FP&A Associate
Working for a fast paced, growing real estate company, the Development Associate within the FP&A team will be responsible for providing financial analysis, business partnering with operational development managers, and supporting investment decisions.
Position Overview: The Development Associate within the FP&A team will be responsible for providing financial analysis, business partnering with operational development managers, and supporting investment decisions. This role requires a deep understanding of construction cashflows, development returns, and investment appraisals (although no prior knowledge required). The successful candidate will contribute and be responsible for the preparation of strategic and financial reporting materials and deliver high-quality insights to stakeholders including board and PE operator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models to analyse construction cashflows and forecast development returns.
- Provide variance analysis, scenario modelling, and sensitivity analysis to support decision-making.
- Track actual vs. budget performance and provide insights into variances through business partnering with construction, planning and development teams
- Business Partnering:
- Collaborate closely with operational development managers to understand project progress, key site details and financial impacts
- Provide data-driven insights to support operational decision-making and mitigate financial risks including KPI reporting and analysis
- Data Management and Systems:
- Management of financial models and scenario analysis through use of excel and the teams main FP&A software – Anaplan (Anaplan experience preferred but not essential)
- Ensure data accuracy and provide recommendations for process improvements
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including finance, development, asset management, and investment teams.
- Support the FP&A leadership in strategic planning and budgeting processes.
- Investment Appraisals:
- Support the development of robust investment appraisals for new and ongoing development projects
- Assist in the preparation of detailed financial reports for presentation to the Investment Committee
- Evaluate project feasibility by analysing development returns, IRRs, NPVs, and other key metrics.
