Accounts Payable Manager

Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Payable Manager to join a highly respected organisation in Bolton, where your expertise will be pivotal in shaping the future of the Accounts Payable Department This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative and supportive environment, values professional growth, and is passionate about nurturing high-performing teams. You will play a key part in maintaining robust ledger management processes across multiple European entities, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency at every stage. The organisation offers flexible working opportunities, ongoing training, and a culture that celebrates teamwork and knowledge sharing. If you are looking to make a meaningful impact while developing your career within a forward-thinking finance team, this is the ideal next step.

As an Accounts Payable Manager, you will be entrusted with leading the Ledger Management team within Transactional Shared Services. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve overseeing end-to-end accounts payable processes, ensuring all activities are carried out efficiently and in line with governance standards. You will work closely with two Team Leaders to set clear objectives for your staff, monitor performance against key indicators, and provide guidance that fosters both individual growth and collective achievement. By building strong relationships across departments—including finance colleagues, global process owners, internal users, and external suppliers—you will ensure seamless communication and effective problem resolution.

Key duties include:-

  • Oversee all aspects of the accounts payable ledger management function, ensuring activities are completed efficiently, accurately, and in full compliance with company policies and governance rules.
  • Support the Head of accounts payable by conducting aged creditor analysis, resolving outstanding issues promptly, and capitalising on synergies between processes across all entities.
  • Develop clear objectives for direct reports, monitor their progress closely, and provide constructive feedback to ensure alignment with wider finance and business strategies.
  • Foster a high-performance culture by cascading objectives throughout the team so everyone understands their contribution to organisational goals.
  • Build strong professional networks across the business to stay informed about evolving requirements of senior leaders and emerging trends within the wider organisation.
  • Allocate roles and responsibilities effectively within your team to maximise skills utilisation using best practice workforce management principles.
  • Manage performance using established frameworks to address underperformance positively while celebrating achievements and supporting continuous improvement.

Your proven experience as an Accounts Payable Manager will enable you to bring valuable insights into optimising accounts payable/purchase ledger operations. You will have demonstrated success in leading teams through periods of change by fostering collaboration rather than competition. Your interpersonal skills allow you to build trust-based relationships not only within your immediate team but also across wider business functions.

Ideally you will have experience in the following areas:

  • Demonstrable experience managing end-to-end accounts payable processes—ideally within a shared services environment—with proven ability to implement quality checks and controls across teams.
  • A track record of successfully leading change initiatives that improve processes while championing inclusivity and collaboration among colleagues.
  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with a commitment to delivering high-quality results even when balancing competing priorities or adapting to changing requirements.
  • Experience motivating teams through goal setting, performance management frameworks, and supportive leadership that enables others to excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills allowing you to communicate financial information clearly at all levels of management both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple tasks across different locations, business units, or currencies without compromising accuracy or deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (especially Excel) alongside an aptitude for learning new systems quickly and suggesting practical improvements.

This organisation stands out for its unwavering commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where every employee is valued for their unique contributions. With flexible working opportunities designed around your needs, generous pension contributions that secure your future, and access to ongoing training programmes tailored for personal growth—this is an environment where you can truly thrive. The leadership team prioritises open communication and knowledge sharing so that everyone feels supported in their role.
